Question
My friend was in a car accident back in 2006 and she has broken C3 & C4.Diagnosis were not good at the time, doctors gave her very little faith and as you can imagine at the age of 30, it was very hard to take.3 years later I have just heard of her progress. She is breathing on her own, she is able to move her head both ways, slowly moving her body and recently she started moving her toe!!!Is there any other cases like this and what would you recommend for her to do next? Sadly she comes from a very small village and there is very limited availability for her to have access to good doctors, well affordable ones any way. I have a feeling that she might have wrong diagnosis all together. Many Thanks

Answer
Hi Jo,  First off let me say thanks for caring enough about your friend to try and help her. Many people find it hard to stay friends with someone who suffers a serious injury and permanent disability. And that is first hand knowledge. As for your friend,I was injured at the C4-C5 level and it took me 5 years to get all the return I got back. So yes I've heard of someone receiving more return. If I were her I would try and see another neurologist and possibly get some rehabilitation. I hope this helps. Sincerely, Ken
