QuestionMy husband is a quad (C%) after a car accident 15 years ago. A year ago we started a journey to try to get pregnant. We were using PVS to achieve ejaculation and doing home insemination. We then went to a fertility clinic for help, had a semen analysis...results weren't good but we had some hope for success with IUI or at least invitro. (Count was 120 million with 8% motility). We decided to wait 3 months, loaded up on supplements and continued PVS to see if more frequent ejaculation would help improve things. Went to fertility docs this month to proceed and semen analysis showed only 117 non-motile sperm. What the heck happened?? The doctors have no explanation and I am desperate for some understanding to what would cause this drastic differences.
AnswerDear Kathy, I'm not an expert on this subject, but I do know a spinal cord injured person's sperm count drops with age. I had a friend who was a C6-C7 quad who early in his injury had some sperm saved so if or when he got married he would know he'd have the sperm needed to have children. And he did get married and did have kids. So I guess I'd see about having his sperm saved, it might be costly, but I don't know since it wasn't something I personally had experience with. I hope this helps, take care and I'll keep good thoughts for you.
Sincerely,
Ken
