QuestionI had a ACDF with anterior screw and plate fixation C5/6 in February 2009. Symptoms never resolved latest MRI and CT show severe bilateral bony foraminal stenosis from posterior marginal osteopyte mainly from unconventional degenetation at this level. Also C6/7 mild foraminal narrowing on the right.
My neurosurgeon wants to operate again through the back. I am becoming more and more unable to function.I am a 47 year old female.
AnswerDear Sandra, First, could you get a second opinion? I would if it's possible. Aside from that, what other option do you have? If the surgery is supposed to prevent further functional loss, then do it. I really wish I had a better option, but with a second opinion you may find a better solution.
Sincerely,
Ken
