Question
Hi, I need an expert's opinion on this ointment that is currently being advertised, called Super Blue. There are money-back guarantees that stand behind this product.  It contains (in addition to skin emollients) emu oil, witch hazel, capsium, MSM, willow bark ext, menthol. I wonder if something applied topically is really effective for deep pain such as arthritis, bursitis, herniated disk, even headaches.  I have a family member who could benefit from this, but I don't want to order something off of an infomercial for fear that it is a lie.  Do you know of anyone who has or has not been helped with this product?  Thanks

Answer
Hi Pat!

I too have seen gads of info-mertials about Super Blue, Super Blue Stuff, Oxy Blue, all of it. I have yet to try it though. Like you mentioned, deep pain like bursitis and arthritis is very hard to treat because of the mere fact that it isnt a sprained muscle or a scar.  I do know one person who has tried it, an older woman who has both arthritis and a wicked case of bursitis. It helps her, but is by no means a complete relief. Uusally it dulls the pain for a few hours, but it always comes back again, just as badly. I dont mean to discourage you though. I do know enough about emu oil, witch hazel, and willow bark(capsium works well too but isnt usually as potent) to be able to tell you that they do help pain, usually by numbing the skin and perhaps the topmost layer of muscle. It's sort of like Ambesol that you use for a toothache. I have heard of no negative results, besides of course, that is doesnt help amazingly, and that its affect wears off eventually. A few weeks ago I saw some of the stuff at Wal Mart. Most Wal Marts across the country have a shelf or section devoted to items you see on television and on infomercials, such as this Super Blue Stuff, fat burners, flat hoses, and veggie choppers. I didnt buy it, but, being a chronic pain patient I'm willing to try just about anything and I may go pick some up . You might want to check wal mart before heading to the phone to order off the telly, but it's probably worth a shot. Just be aware that it isnt the permanent miracle cure they'd like you to believe. The ingredients are all safe, to my knowledge, and work for temporary relief most usually. Good luck and God bless!
