Question
What are possible effects of long term use of ibuprofen?  I have taken 4-6 @200mgs daily for the last year for shoulder & right arm pain.  I'm concerned about side effects or if I may cause an additional medical problem from this long term use.  Thank you so much for this site and for all the help that you are to us.  Judith

The dose of ibuprofen you are taking is nothing to cause great concern.  With this dose the most common side effect is stomach irritation.  This can range from mild stomach upset to an ulcer.  Your physician can routinely check these effects as long as you inform him or her that you are taking ibuprofen.  If I can assist you any further please do not hesitate to contact me.
