Question
hi celeste
i often feel pain in my thigh usually left one in winter. what is the reason for it? can i avoid it?
My second question is that does excessive masturation causes pain in legs?
does painful stimuli to penis decrease one's sexual desire and can it be done to decrease sexual desire?

Answer
Imran,

Well, not being a doctor at all, I wouldn't even begin to presume to know the cause for it. Since you say you feel it in the winter, this gives me the idea that you don't feel it, or at least not to such a great extent that it hampers your daily activities, throughout the rest of the year. Many people, if not most, experience some type of joint or muscular pain in the colder months; the human body is not made to be exposed to extremes such as very cold weather, so the muscles react accordingly. If memory serves me, there is a certain chemical reaction that takes place in that situation that is simular to what happens with flu aches or chronic fatigue syndrome, but I can't recall its name or direct properties.

Avoiding it altogether probably isn't possible. However, there are things you can do that should at least lessen it. If the pain comes on intermittently, that is, if you don't feel it all the time, a simple over the counter pain reliever would probably do the trick. I suggest Aleve or Ibuprofen for muscle aches; some people take Tylenol, but I advise against it since it has been known to cause very severe liver damage in many cases. Also, the application of either dry heat (in the form of a heating pad) or moist heat (in the form of a rice bag or hot bath) can be very helpful. It's a staple of natural healing.

As to your second question, that's not exactly my subject of expertise ^_^* But I would imagine it could, since there are many muscles in the surrounding area. I wouldn't, however, think it should cause shooting or acute pain. This is all simply speculation based on basic knowledge of anatomy, though. You'll need to ask someone else, most favourably your doctor. And while you're there, you might consider bringing your last question up as well and getting his opinion. Since he knows you, he's the best one to address personal questions like that.

I hope I've been able to provide some assistance:)

Sincerely,

Celeste
