-----Answer-----
Dear Mrs. Allen,
The loss of control you describe indicates nerve compression. The pain may be muscular or nervous in origin. The drugs can only hide the pain but cannot correct the condition.
I wish I could see your husband, personally. Lacking that, find a clinical somatic educator near you. list: www.hannasomatics.com/practitioners.
I would also get a second medical opinion, meaning with other doctors.

AnswerSurgery is not a good option when the cause is muscular. It's painful, expensive, and does nothing to end the muscular contractions that cause the problem. Avoid "nerve ablation"; it's drastic, causes loss of function, and it's permanent.
