QuestionI have the answers from my daughter:
Where exactly is the pain?
Inside part of right leg near groin area.
Is it in one spot, or does it radiate elsewhere?
One spot.
Is there any redness or swelling? Does she describe any numbness or tingling?
No external signs, although there apparently was some temporary numbness after having ice on the affected area for a while.
Thank you for your help, Pete.

-----Question-----
My daughter who is 21 has recently got pain in one of her legs in the thigh area that started off as a slight annoyance and is now quite painful when she moves her leg. It started 2 days ago, and the only thing she did differently was she shoveled snow the previous day. She did not fall down or anything like that. She now is home and keeping her leg elevated and applying a cold pack in the affected area from time to time. Do you have any suggestions of what else she might trying while resting her leg?

AnswerHi Pete and thanks for the specifics,
Again I am guessing, but it sounds like she may have strained her adductor muscle in the groin.
Recommended treatment is rest, ice, compression & antiinflammatories so she's doing the right things. Try to avoid straining the muscle for 1-2 weeks and keep it wrapped as much as possible. She should still go see physician if it isn't improving each day or gets worse in any way as a tear is still a possibility.
All my best,
Margot
