QuestionI hit my head on the floor about a year ago, not that hard. But now I have moderate-severe pain from the right base of my skull to about the middle of my ear. It is sore to the touch, but it is not swollen. The right side of my neck is very still as well. Heat/Ice help a little. Do you know what may be the cause of this? Is this something I need to see a doctor for, and if so will my regular general practice doctor suffice?
AnswerHi, Brianna,
If you were my client, I'd be checking the muscles in your neck and at the base of your skull to see if they are in a very contracted state. That, alone, can cause the pain, and would be consistent with a muscular reaction to the blow you experienced.
If that's the case, it's not something a medical doctor can help; you need to learn to control and relax those muscles.
People in my field specialize in muscular training for that purpose.

If you need a self-help program, I can make a recommendation.
