QuestionI need some help understanding the results of a mri i had done
FINDINGS
vertebra body hight is normal.there are no fractures or osseous lesions.Alighnment is satisfactory.Ther are no subluxations. The conus medullaris is unremarkable in appearance. The cord end at about the L1 level.
There are no significant finding at L1-L2 or L2-L3.
At L3-L4 and L4-L5,ther is mild bilateral facet osteoarthritis. There is no evidence of neural impingement at either level.
At L5-S1,there is degenerative disc disease. There is a small right paracentral disc prtrusion. This abuts the ventral surface of the thecal sac.
IMPRESSIONS
Degenerative disc disease with small right paracentral disc protrusion L5-S1.This abuts the ventral surface of the secal sac.
Mild bilateral facet osteoarthrits at L3-L4 and L4-L5
this is an exactly what my report has word for word, please explain thanks

Hanna Somatic Educatio
Hi, Becky.
First off "degenerative disc disease" is NOT a disease, at all, but the mechanical consequence of long-term pressure on the involved disc(s), which eventually break down under the pressure. This pressure is usually caused by very tight back muscles pulling vertebrae too closely together, and that would also explain facet osteoarthritis (facets and contact points between vertebrae) and the disc protrusion.
To clear up the problem, what is needed is to ease the muscular pulls.

It's fairly easy to clear up by means of clinical somatic education (which you'll read about, above).
