QuestionHi,
i don't know if you know much about knee injuries or not. But I was wondering if you have a fractured knee a minor fractured knee, do you have to have surgery on it? And if so how long will you heal after it? and if no surgery is necessary, how long until you can heal from the fractured knee.
thanks.
frankie.
AnswerHi Frankie,
I actualy have had a fractured Patella once, and no i didn't have to have surgery. The doctor put me in a "Soft Cast" (basically a plaster 1/2 cast surrounded by foam and held together by a 4" bandage). I think I was supposed to keep it on for a while, but I actually took it off after two days as it got in my way with work.
As for whether you'd need surgery or not and time required to recover would both depend on the location and severity of the fracture. In my case, I was lucky as it was more of a crack then a true break. So there is no definate answer as each injury is different. Of course it would also depend on whether other things were involved such as torn tendons or ligaments.
I hope this helps answer your question,
Margot
