QuestionMy partner has fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue syndrome and suffers from extreme fatigue, pain, and is quite limited in mobility. A trip out to our mailbox wears her out! One thing that used to make life much more pleasant for her was reading book after book that the local library mailed out to her. However, we've recently moved to a small rural town without any library service. Do you know of a national library service or a library without residence restrictions that mails books to disabled patrons? Thank you for any assistance you can provide.
AnswerThis is a bit outside what I usually do, so I can't offer any really great help.
I don't know of a national level program, but your nearest library ought to have some idea of what is available in your area- most programs like this are funded at state or lower levels. For example, many communities have some form of bookmobile for 'shut-ins'.
You also ought to look into things like books on tape, electronic books or e-books, and so on. Again, your local library ought to have more ideas about what is available locally.
