Question
If a child is born blind, what are the possibilities of their siblings being born with normal sight? Thank you once again.

Answer
That depends entirely upon what caused the blindness. I have a half brother who has perfect vision. My father's mom had RP and he developed it, but his two sisters did not (he is the youngest). My Step-mom has RP but none of her 7 siblings have it, nor do her parents...it was passed down to her from a distant aunt. RP, for example, depends entirely upon the genes.

TORCH...Rubella for instance...is a one time thing. Perhaps if there were twins...the one twin might be blind and the other just have a simply infection that can be cured.

If your character has siblings, your story will still be believable even if no one else in his family are blind. You can simply attribute it to a birth defect or distant family member.
