Question
I require reading glasses to read.  I generally use  300 to  325 and have tried  400.  The latter are very nice for reading printed matter even though the range result in a very limited and short depth of field (8 to 12 inches) from the page.

I do a great deal of reading on a computer screen and I find that any power over  300 requires that I move inconveniently close to the screen.

Are there any lens designs that would provide high, magnification index (400) but keep the focal plane 15 to 16 inches from my face?

Answer
Sidney,

Unfortunately, there aren't any reading glasses that can do that.

You would need a special mounted telescopic lens. This is basically like wearing telescope glasses. I have a pair that I used, in school, to read the board. The unfortunate thing about using them for the computer, is that at 16 inches, you will lose some field of view.

I have to be close to the computer screen, too, with my reading glasses...it is uncomfortable, but I have gotten use to it.

Hope that helps,
Jeannine
