QuestionI suffer from multiple schlerosis and have difficulty with memory loss. I have been parking in the same handicapped parking space, driving the same vehicle for 3 years now. My car has that starr rescue system which is affixed permanently to my car front mirror. The handicapped parking tag can not possibly hang on the mirror, so I have to lay it on the dash. With memory loss, I have forgotten several times to put it on the dash and have received parking citations several times at $50.00 each time. Why in the world don't the enforcement people know that that is my license plate number and my car which has been in the same space for years? Should I be paying $50.00 for tickets, which I know I'll get sometime again in the future? I just can't remember like I used to. Please give me your advice.

AnswerYou must take the ticket to court on the day you are assigned a hearing. I don't know what state you live in but that is the standard for most states. If the court hearing date for the ticket has passed you must pay the ticket or be censured in some form. If the date has not passed you should go to court on the appointed day and explain to the judge the situation. The judge will either lower the fine or expunge it completely.
