QuestionI asked you a question 3+ months ago I think about EDS. You mentioned Sticklers, going to see my geneticist but from what I've looked up and all... looks more like I have EDS. But I've got another question for you... With the joint dislocations I mostly have chronic knee and back pain. Is it enough (EDS, joint pains, and etc) enough to get on disability? I've applied 4-5 times and had a hearing... got denied every time. Every job I get, I end up having to quit due to severe chronic pain... Getting a lawyer this time around but I'm asking around to get all the info I can.
AnswerI'm not a disability expert, so my best advice would be to consult an attorney that handles disability cases. I only know 1 person who got disability on his first application without an attorney.
If you can't get disability, there are other programs that can help you keep a job by providing accommodations, assistance and re-training.
The Job Accommodation Network is an excellent resource

Your state Department of Vocational Rehab can assist with education and accommodation support to help you find a job that doesn't cause pain.
If you try both the JAN and DVR and still have problems, then the fact that you've exhausted these resources may help demonstrate your need for disability.
I know lots of folks with EDS who did eventually get disability. It's not an easy process though. If you want to talk to people who have successfully navigated the process, check out Yahoogroups and join the CEDA or EDSers mailing list. There are people there who are on disability and can share their experiences.
