Question
Hello. I am sorry, this is my first time on this website. Something is bothering me, and has actually been bothering me for a while. I know a mother who has a 2 yr. old (turned 2 years old this past December) who is not walking; has still not been able to walk yet, on his own that is; he has to hold unto chairs to get to where he needs to go. But he is not walking at all. And his legs are completely limp. If he is siting on the floor, he needs help to be lifted....The mother claims that none of it is her fault. But I don't understand --- it's like she's hiding something. Their son is 2 yrs. old and doesn't walk! The father does not talk or says nothing about the son's condition at all. Again, it's odd --- nothing about the son's condition ever comes out of his mouth. Have you ever heard of a 2 yr. old that doesn't walk? Do you have any idea what he is suffering from? Also, the mother had 2 previous miscarriages, but each one occurred exactly at 7 months (7 months is almost close to full term). Again, something is not right here...and she doesn't really talk about it. 2 miscarriages at 7 months exactly, and then now a child who is past 2 yrs and is not walking. Just wondering whether you can offer any expertise.===Thanks...just concerned. The parents seem like they are hiding something.

I am a bit confused. The child can cruise furniture, yet he isn't able to pull himself from a sit to a stand position. You did not mention whether the child crawls either on all fours or a combat crawl. Some children at 2 don't walk and just cruise the furniture. Some have delays for whatever reason. I have worked with children that did not start till 2 and a half to walk. They parents will only be able to hide it for so long before it has to come out. I hope this helps.
