QUESTION: OK, in the title it says 15 year old. The question was "group home in NH (New Hampshire), so the info was already there! Sorry to be so quip, but we are at our wits end with our sons behavior. He accidently set a camp on fire tonight. He has no boundaries, IQ of a 6 yr old. We need help. He is really more than we can handle. Thanks
Donna
ANSWER: My apologies for not reading this through more carefully. I do get requests from folks who are from out of state to place children in NH. Are you willing to share what town you live in? This would be helpful.

QUESTION: near Conway, in Carroll County
AnswerNormally he might qualify as a CHINS (child in need of services), however last year CHINS was done away with in NH.
If he has an IQ of a 6 year old, I'm assuming he has an IEP. How is he doing in school? Some group home placements are done through special education as an out of district placement. Contact places and make a "parent referral" and see if the school district will support it.
Also, contact your local DCYF office to see if the would be willing to fund a short term placement somewhere. You could also ask them about funding an in-home ISO as a means of temporary support that might avoid an out-of-home placement.
