QuestionI went to a chiropractor for the first time on Friday. I had a pulled muscle that was raised and causing alot of constant pain from overdoing it faux finishing a floor and doing an antique show right after that. I went to find some kind of relief...they did x-rays and made me come back yesterday. I had a consultation and was shown the x-rays ( which I was glad to see because I wanted to know that I didn't have a disc problem or anything that might be injured by the chiropractic visit), the x-rays revealed that I have mild scoliosis. After a sales and money discussion ( I don't have insurance) and yes there are two prices one for cash and one for insurance....and an additional 10% discount for full payment of the 1,465....I finally got an adjustment...which was really for the scoliosis starting at the base of my spine....I am really sore and wonder about the sales pitch...and the scheduling of appt's everyday for a week followed by about 4 1/2 months of treatment. I feel like he might hurt me if he hasn't already..I ache lower now and am tired of being in pain...How do I know those were my x-rays in the first place? Can scoliosis even be helped by the treatments....? Thanks for reading this and I hope you can direct me and shed some light on the matter!! Carla
AnswerDear AllExperts User:
Here is an update on the petition project I emailed you about previously. A few changes were needed to correct and clarify the petition, requiring me to restart using a new one. The means that everyone who signed needs to resign the new form which is located at http://www.petitiononline.com/ajb2/petition.html
There really seems to be a good deal of support for this initiative to clean up misinformation about chiropractic in the most widely used career sourcebook for students.
Please visit the site, review the new petition and add your support. I also am asking everyone to contact as many friends and family members as possible to get the message out either by emailing them directly or passing a message on to distribution lists and discussion forums. I am certain that health professionals, students and smart consumers would appreciate learning more about this subject and join us. If enough attention is raised I am confident we can make a difference and get this fixed!
Thank you again for your support,
