QuestionI have now seen a chiropractor twice but have some telling me I am weakening my body and will always need to see a chiropractor if I go many more times. I think I have been helped but will it last? or will I regret being weakened?
AnswerPatient dependency is a big problem with chiropractors who keep patients coming in for life. The point of manipulation is supposed to be to break up poorly moving spinal joints, however because the amount of force used to make adjustments is too low and because the analysis isn't valid it essentially is just a way to "crack" sore spinal joints. This doesn't accomplish anything other than give some temporary pain relief because of the general effects of manipulation. After you've had a few weeks of this treatment there is no reason to continue going. If you are still having pain, it is always a good idea to visit a physiatrist and physical therapist specializing in spinal rehabilitation to see if there are any other problems the the chiropractor missed.
