'Preventive Actions' - Rather than full analysis & necessary adjustments, can I ask about some preferred body motions and discouraged standing/bending. When I am moving around, such as wrestling with my toddler or just moving groceries out of a car trunk, can you refer me to a source that talks about the vulnerable body parts and how to avoid damage therein?
AnswerI'm not sure where there is an online source that discusses this. The single most helpful maneuver is called "abdominal hollowing," in which you practice pulling your belly button in toward your spine *without* lifting up your rib cage. This motion activates the deep abdominal muscles, thereby protecting your spine. Do this when lifting or performing other activities that might stress your back.
Ther is a great journal called "Bodywork and Movement Therapies" that each month has an excellent tip on proper posture, body motions and relevant exercises written by Dr. Craig Liebensohn, a chiropractor who is an expert in rehabilitation. If you can find that you will find a trove of helpful info
