Question
Dear Ms. Bunham,

1) is there a national association or any other type of organization that could help to choose or even refer to a chiropractor in one's area? (I live in Denver).

2)Are there any tell-tale credentials that would help choose a chiropractor on one's own?

3)How effective is chiropractice in treating a sciatic nerve type backpain symptoms?

IF there are some good internet links on the subject, I'll appreciate you forwarding them to me.

Thanks for your time,

Oleg

Answer
(my name is dr. burnham) there are organizations that may refer you to a list of chiropractors or a specific doctor, but i would not consider their recommendation as meaning anything necessarily one way or the other as regards  quality of care. i recommend HIO METHOD chiropractic by a doctor experienced in this method. it is not the purpose of chiropractic to treat any symptom, rather it is to correct the cause of nerve interference due to cord impingement in the upper neck. as this is most commonly the cause of sciatica, chiropractic is overall very effective in dealing with this problem. however, in some cases, advanced degenerative changes, sometimes along with complications of invasive procedures if done, may considerably limit the potential for recovery. strangely, good information on chiropractic on the internet seems about as hard to find as it is elsewhere.
