QuestionI have delt with TMJ for the last 4 years and after seeing dentist after dentist I have not found much relief. How well can TMJ be treated by chiropractic treatment? With the cartilage in the TMJ joint being damaged, chiropractic treatment won't continue to damage it, will it? My neck as a result of the TMJ has lost its posture and my head is in a forward position, can that also be corrected by a chiropractor? That in turn pulls on the muscles in my neck and back and the pain that comes from that is unbearable. How would I find a chiropractor that could treat this? Are all chiropractors the same or is there some that specialize in certain conditions?
Answerthe tmj is probably not the cause of the distorted neck curvature. both are probably effects of the same cause-nerve interference. now, do you want to get better, or do you want someone to treat (play with) your tmj?(hopefully you've had enough of that by now). to put it another way, your only hope of regaining your health is not through treating symptoms, but by correcting the cause. the likely cause, nerve interference, is produced by a misaligned atlas (c1) vertebra impinging the spinal cord. this causes, in turn, imbalanced innervation to muscles causing imbalanced muscle tension causing structural distortion(such as your tmj and neck) and excessive joint stress and wear(such as your tmj). simple. to correct this i recommend you find an HIO METHOD chiropractor. i would accept no substitutes.
