Injury to coccyx

Question
I am 20 years old and injured myself in mid-June this year in a minor car accident where i landed on my coccyx. I suffered head injuries, which the doctors were more concerned about at the time, rather than my back. I had hoped that the pain above my coccyx would disappear, however over 3 months later, I am still suffering from a sharp feeling of stiffness in my lower back. As I play sport, I am keen to sort out my back as soon as possible but am unsure as to what the best plan of action would be, whether it's physiotherapy, chiropractic, or other. Please could you advise me as to who you think is best to approach.
Many thanks

Answer
hi, sorry for late reply.

It appears that you have a contusive injury to your coccyx that can give you a long lasting discomfort.  Coccyx has innervation of many peripheril nerve fibers which means that if you injured your coccyx, these nerves will respond to it and will generate lots of unpleasant symptoms.

Do hot bath, Do not sit on hard surface, Avoid prolonged sitting.

I recommmed to take xray sacrum/coccyx view to check carefully any bony abnormalities.

Good luck
