QuestionI'm seeing a chiropractor for a car accident but I also have charcot-marie-tooth disease(neuropathy). I was wondering if chiropractic care helps with TMJ andif you know anyone that has helped with a neuropathy? I don't get on the table because I'm in a wheel-chair and it takes alot of energy to get on the table, but I do get adjustments in the cervical and thorasic area. Do you think the full spine adjustment would benefit me more?
AnswerThe Charcot-Marie-Tooth is a peripheral neuropathy. While the adjustments do affect the nervous system, I don't think that it would make a huge difference because that disease only affects a specific nerve. Overall, chiropractic care does benefit the body, especially when you are dealing with a chronic problem. Discuss this further with your neuro and your chiropractor for more specifics.
Chiropractic is great for TMJ, just ask your doc! If he/she doesn't have a technique for TMJ, ask them to refer you to someone else, perhaps just for the TMJ problem.
Hope this helps!
