Question
IS IT POSSIBLE FOR A PINCHED NERVE TO CAUSE SHARP PAINS IN THE LOWER ABDOMEN AND HIP?  I HAVE DONE A LITTLE RESEARCH AND I HAVE THE SYMPTOMS OF SOMETHING CALLED SCIATICA.  I HATE DRS, NO OFFENSE, BUT I HAVE ALREADY BEEN WHACKED ON FOR THE SAME PAIN AND TAKING OUT AN OVARY DIDN'T SEEM TO HELP.  SO I THOUGHT MAYBE THERE MIGHT BE NERVE ENDINGS THAT WRAP AROUND FROM MY BACK CAUSING ME SUCH MISERY.  CAN YOU TELL ME ANYTHING?

Answer
Hello,

Yes,  Nerves exit your spinal cord which is housed by your spine.  As the nerves leave the spinal cord they have many different branches.  Depending on where the nerve is pinched and which one, yeilds the different pain patterns.  You may not have sciatica.  I would suggest a visit to a doctor of chiropractic to determine what is truely going on.

Have a great day,

Dr. Brendon O'Brien D.C.
