QuestionDuring the past six months I have suffered many tension headaches caused by the tightening of my muscles in my neck and shoulders and also the muscles stretching down my back.
I have seen many medical professionals including an acupuncturist, osteopath and sports massage therapist. The various treatments received have alieviated much of the pain but have only cured it to a degree.
I would very much like the pain to be irradicated in full, can a chiropractor help with such problems?
AnswerElaine,
Thanks for the question. Yes, I think you should consult a chiropractor for this problem. It is obvious that you have approached this from a muscular standpoint and not resolved the problem. The other aspect of such a condition would be joint and nerve related. I see many patients with what are "cervicogenic headaches". In simpler terms, you have a neck headache. Irritation of the spinal joints in the neck cause muscle spasm and tension and lead to pain. By manipulating the cervical spine and relieving the irritation on the joints, the cycle is broken and the muscles return to a normal state.
The end result is no more pain and discomfort. See a chiropractor to determine if this is the case with your condition, then you can resolve it.
