I am 48 and have a regular chiropractor that I have seen approx. once a month for years.  We are insurance adjusters and travel throughout the US and I have seen chiropractors in several states.  I still have daily, ongoing pain throughout my body.  My lower back, right hip (on the side and front), knees, neck, my hands go to sleep doing simple tasks.  I have headaches, although not daily.  But anywhere that a person can touch me, or poke me, hurts. I have begun to wonder if I have some toxin in my system, or some deficientcy of some kind that prevents my adjustments from giving me prolonged relief.  My energy level is low as well.  Thanks

Thanks for the question.  I actually deal with this type of problem quite a bit.  It is highly likely that you are suffering from adrenal gland fatigue.  The adrenal glands are responsible for a number of very important hormones including cortisol, DHEA, progesterone and the other sex hormones. In a case of adrenal fatigue, these hormones are out of balance and can result in numerous symptoms such as you are describing.  

Take this quick quiz:

Are you tired most of the time?
Do you have trouble sleeping/do you wake up at night?
Have you gained weight or having trouble losing weight, despite diet or exercise?
Do you feel depressed/experience mood swings/take anti-depressants?
Do you experience low sex drive?
Do you get sick easily?
Do your joints ache/feel pain throughout the body?

If you answered YES to one or more of these questions, you may be experiencing adrenal fatigue.  If so, this is most likely what is causing you to fail to gain relief from your chiropractic treatments.

To truly diagnose adrenal fatigue, you must have an adrenal hormone test which is done through testing the saliva.  You simply spit into 4 vials throughout the day and then the samples are tested. The results are extremely important and allow us to prescribe the proper treatment which is supplements and bioidentical hormones.  These are hormones that are naturally occurring and do not have the side effects like those synthetic hormone drugs.
