QuestionHello Dr,
You said you know a bit about physical therapy. My friend and I went into what was soposed to be a "Hot" Tub last night but it was not hot. More like luke warm. Anyway, we were in there for a while. Afterwards, my skin was very red and all my joints hurt. It was like i could feel my pulse in my entire body. My joints all felt swollen like water got trapped in them.
My question is Why did this happen and what can we do to make ourselves feel better and get rid of the swelling? We both have it still the next day.
Thanks
Jacalyn
AnswerHello Jacalyn,
Yes, I am also a licensed physical therapist. Depending on your condition, heat can make it worse. Especially soaking in a hot tub or bath. Heat will bring more blood, fluid, and swelling to the area where it is placed. Staying in a sauna or hot tub to long can raise your body temperature to high. If you must go into the hot tub you may want to try a cold bath after to reduce swelling etc.
Have a great day,
