Ok, but HOW does it weaken...

Question
Ok, but HOW does it weaken my lower back...typically just wear and tear on the tendons/ligaments/discs?
because, I think that  me lifting it the wrong way STRENGTHENS my lower back somewhat since im using those muscles to lift (since im using the lower back muscles to lift and am lifting more and more, than it must be strengthening the MUSCLE tissue AT LEAST).

So basically, in my situation hypothetically if my back were to be slowly detoriorating yet getting stronger in muscle fiber...it would be strengthening in muscle but tearing down in ligaments or in discs?    (of course, it could also just give out in one big lift because of too much weight, but forget that possibility and just address the other if you would).  anyways, im just trying to better understand what Im doing here so, thanks for your cooperation.
And I think that it can be said that this question is individual and will vary from person to person, vary from how one feels when lifting and after lifting etc...but, I wont debate you I just want your honest opinion

Question -
I have a question regarding posture-

First of all, the typical pains and injuries associated with the back are in the lower back region, and are typically a disk problem, a tendon problem or both right?  Then maybe the second most likely problem is a nerve pinch and lastly a muscle being pulled?  (and when someone finally feels the back give out its typically after a long time of continuous misusing right?)

So how important is arching your back and sticking you chest out for preventing such injury?  Personally, i find trying to do that a pain in the ass because then I feel unrelaxed and stoic, even less happy (which may partially be due to a slightly related to OCD mental problem I have).  But is it still worth it?  is posture that important to save my back?

and ive started lifting weights and doing them heavy, doing deadlifts and other things that are potentially using a lot of lower back work.  again-how important is this posture thing?  I dont do the arch the back thing but I do get fairly low and use my legs alot to lift, but I still use my lower back more than the very proper way of doing it.

Hello Jeff,

Posture is important!! Not as much when sitting. But when lifting weights your technique and posture is extremely important.  People with unbalanced (does not mean weak backs) will often rupture a lower lumbar disc, I especially see this with dead lifters.  However, proper lifting techniques strenthen the back and decrease spinal pain and risk of injury.  You may want to have a personal trainer watch you for a couple of weeks to ensure you are performing excellant biomechanical explosive techniques.

Answer
Hello Jeff,

Just like when your car is out of alignment you will cause premature wearing of you tires.  If the alignment is displaced severely you will blow a tire or crash the whole car.  This is basically what happens to the low back with improper biomechanics.  Now if lifting the "wrong way" actually helped people I would be out of business because there would be no back injuries.
