Question
Hello Dr. Wiggens,
I have had problems with my sinuses for two years.  I went to an ENT specialist and he told me that I have enlarged turbinates.  He requested that I see an allergy specialist.  He  felt that there is a good chance that I might need surgery to trim the turbinates.  I would like to know if there is something that can be done without surgery.  I am not very familiar with accupuncture.  Do you have any suggestions?
I have been on antibiotics five times this year alone.  I would appreciate any advice.
Thank you,
Stacie Rogers

Answer
Stacie,

I am glad to see that you are interested in a less invasive approach to your problem.  I have had success treating sinus issues with acupuncture.  I use acupuncture to open the sinuses and allow better air flow and decrease the chances for infection.  I use herbal therapy in conjunction with acupuncture to assure a favorable response.  There are several herbs I have found work well with various sinus conditions.  I recommend you find a practioner who is skilled in both acupuncture as well as herbal therapy to help you with your condition.  If I can answer any further questions feel free to ask.

Dr. Wiggins
