QuestionHi
My daughter has just been to a Chiropractor who has suggested an adjustment to her Sacrum (Cocstix sp?) via her anus - is this legit? according to him it is twisted due to maybe a fall and that it is very difficult for him to align her spine successfully without this procedure. Please can u comment
AnswerDenise,
Thanks for the question. This is a legitimate treatment procedure. I as a chiropractor would never perform it due to the various liability issues and I have utilized other procedures to reposition an anterior coccyx. That said, I do know several chiropractors who have performed the procedure and had great success with one time. It is within the scope of practice of a chiropractor in most states.
Your DC has recommended one treatment option. The decision on whether to go through with this procedure is one for you, your daughter and her father. It is not a comfortable procedure in regards to pain and humility. I would hope that you really know the doctor and have complete trust in him.
I hope this helps.
