Question'Doc,
I never heard of this. What is "Brimhall Trained" mean? I've been in practice for 15 years. "Brimhall" has no meaning to me, and I've seen, read about, or been exposed in some way to just about everything in this profession.

AnswerFunny, but if you look at any issue of Dynamic Chiropractic for the past two years you will see ads for Dr. Brimhall's seminars. Dr. Brimhall is an AK & Acupuncture certified DC with advace studies in nutrition (masters, I think) and has been teaching since the '80's. He formulates nutritional products for nutriwest and has pioneered cutting edge techniques using tools such as the purcussor and cold laser and advanced nutrition for advancing chirpractic care of patients that seem to get no help anywhere else. Most of what he has done, however, is to put together knowledge from other doctors and streamline cutting edge knowledge into a useable protocol. His six step protocol truly simplifies some of the AK mess and, unlike many programs, is still subluxation based: everything is about removing the subluxation. His protocol, however, goes much deeper in that it looks to the progenitors of the subluxation (trauma, toxins, stress) and expands it with modern science.
He defines the six interferences to health as:
1. structural abnormalities
2. nutritional deficiencies
3. toxins
4. electromagnetic disturbances
5. abnormal emotional patterns
6. allergies
All of these can cause the subluxation complex as we know it. So while it is important to remove the subluxation, it is also important to remove the cause of the subluxation, or it will return. If you want to find out more about Dr. Brimhall, go to http://www.brimhallwellness.com/
Incidentally, I used the term, 'trained' because Dr. Brimhall has a certification program that I have not yet finished, even though I have been following his work for several years. His certified doctor program is quite extensive and very educational.
Good luck!
Dr. P
