Question
I have had 12 adjustments ( 3xs a week) for last 4 weeks.
Always had a problem with my left side.(degenative disc upper c spine/fibromalyasia, busisitis in hip). connective tissue problems.The adjustments have helped hip.
My question: the DC finally got the left side to release air(though I asked him not to touch,,too sensitive)I have not been well since. It has been 4 days, excessive pain in left neck, numbness in face, sore ear, sore shoulder. Nothing is helping, heat/cold compresses, x strength Tylenol, hot showers..I have been in bed for 3 days!
Q: Could the adjustment have caused a whiplash?
With the sudden movement in a sensitive area of my body.
PS..my chriopractor had still not called me back? I live in Canada if there is any difference in your procedures.

I am very sorry that you have had a reaction to treatment.

A chiropractic adjustment cannot cause a whiplash per se.  If you have the type of chronic problems that you have and adjustment can certainly aggravate the situation.

Whenever we treat we are trying to estimate how much change your body can tolerate at the moment.  If we don't do enough we don't get the results.  If we go too fast it can hurt.

Address the doc directly.  If he doesn't respond satisfactorily, get another opinion.  It sounds as if you have had enough experience to know what you are doing.

By the way, methods in Canada should be the same as anywhere else.
