QuestionApproximately 4 years ago, I slipped and fell on my left wrist. At the time of the fall, I used my wrist to break my fall and at the time the wrist was in a 90 degree position. Ever since the fall, I find that when I do any activity that requires me to bend the wrist (i.e pushups) I experience pain in the wrist (top) and weakness. I do not have any issues with gripping objects or have noticed any loss of strength. Nor is the wrist deformed in any area. Can you advise me on what I should do?
AnswerHi Krista,
As you can imagine, it is difficult to give precise information without an exam.
Generally, there is some degree of scar tissue healing in the area. In your case, this has formed in an area that gets compressed when you put weight on it in that direction. In turn the fibrotic tissue presses on a sensitive set of nerves.
Chiropractic can, at times, change the mechanics in the area in such a way as to reduce the amount of pressure striking the sensitive spots. And perhaps give you directions for rehab.
Hope this helps. The site below can help you find local docs.
