QuestionJune 8th I was hiking along the Baden Powell Trail and I took a step with my left foot right angles and up a slope of45 degrees and the foot slid then I sat on that left leg. I fracture the fibula and the twist must have torn or severely strained the ligaments at the ankle. There is much swelling and pain when reclining and elevating foot. Will anything accelerate the healing of this trauma? Such as Hyperbaric Oxygen Chamber? Icing helps for a little while but swelling still continues. I have an Air Cast which I remove at home. I take Anacin/acetomenophen and not IB Profen. At what point can physiotherapy begin? Arthur
AnswerArthur,
Thank you for your questions.
All of these questions are best posed to your orthopedic surgeon, who is best qualified to discuss the treatment of fractures and your case in particular, as the treatment of fractures are not within the scope of chiropractic practice.
