QuestionHi. About my background to this question: I was in the military and somehow my upper spine became "twisted" to the right. The spine between my shoulder blades. I was given therapy, a tens unit, and adjustments which initially seemed to help. (I couldn't turn my neck without pain, I would have to turn my whole upper body) I am able to turn my neck and the pain is minimal now. However, I have been having heart issues recently that do not seem to have a rhyme or reason. I have had 2 stress echo test which everything has checked out o.k. I have intermittent pain, intermittent tachycardia which is controlled with beta blockers, occasionally I have numbness/tingling in both arms below the elbow, I have recently started having symptomatic PVC's which are also controlled with the beta blocker.
I have been reading about the nerves associated with the spine and it appears the one's associated with the area I have twisted effect the heart, arms and chest area. Could this be a cause of my other symptoms?
I have been seeing a cardiologist for 8 months and nothing has physically shown to be wrong with my heart but I am still having symptoms and would like to find out what is going on.
Thanks for any help you can give.
Sandy
AnswerHi Sandy,
The pain and numbness below the elbow would not be caused by the injury at the thoracic spine (area between shoulder blades). This is more toward the neck area. Numbness and tingling would point more toward blood circulation issue. Most likely the heart issue is a separate incident. However, the tests of your heart as indicated are normal. Perhaps, the pain and symptoms you have may be associated with isolated incidents in the any physical activities especially when you were in the military (the training are quite rigorous and can injure the joints or muscles).
Try visiting a chiropractor or acupuncturist for your symptoms as the cardiologist has indicated that the heart is good.
