Question slip disc L3-4 shows dehydration with diffuse disc bulge 1-2 mms L5 S1 shows dehydration with diffuse annular bulge of 1-2 mms left lateral recess and proximal foraminal nerve root
AnswerHello ashaniranjan,
I am sorry to hear of your condition.
Is surgery needed?
I have no idea.
Decisions on surgery are rarely made on one test finding.
".........slip disc L3-4 shows dehydration with diffuse disc bulge 1-2 mms L5 S1 shows dehydration with diffuse annular bulge of 1-2 mms left lateral recess and proximal foraminal nerve root......."
slip disc ? I have no idea what a slip disc is.
Sometimes I have patients come in and talk about a 'slipped disc'.
I have never given that diagnosis, I have never gotten that diagnosis from another DOCTOR.
slip disc = herniated disc?, back pain?, dgenerative disc?, disc bulge?, protrusion?, sciatica? I have never seen an Xray, MRI, or CT scan that said , slip disc .
Disc bulges? "....L3-4 shows dehydration with diffuse disc bulge 1-2 mms L5 S1 shows dehydration with diffuse annular bulge of 1-2 mms...", common findings. Disc bulge? not really a criteria for surgery. Conservative care, extended period, monitor response.
".......left lateral recess and proximal foraminal nerve root......."
huh? this is your MRI report?
#1) I cannot understand your MRI results as given here.
#2) If a radiologist gave you a diagnosis of " slip disc " -
get a new radiologist.
#3) Surgery needed? from this report - - - I have no idea.
#4) Surgery needed? from one test?- really need additional
examination findings, more history, treatment rendered and
prior results.
