QuestionHello, I am a 23 year old female, non-smoker, occasional drinker, good diet, ideal weight for my height, no obvious risks health wise.
I have been suffering from a hemi-facial twitch or tick with pulls the entire right side of my face upwards and to the right. I have had this for around 11 years with varying intensity, even going away completely for one whole year!
My GP said that I would grow out of it, which of course I haven抰.
I have had an MRI which didn抰 show anything, however it was limited in its findings as there was no contrast used.
I have been told about Chiropractors eliminating facial twitches and droops by rebalancing and realigning. Is this true?
I would really appreciate any advice you could give me.
Sincerely,
Selina
AnswerHi Selena,
I've never heard of chiropractors alleviating facial twitching, but it sure can't hurt to try. If you can find a chiropractor that can combine skilled joint manipulation with soft tissue therapy such as active-release technique or Graston Technique, then it would be worthwhile giving it a try. Acupuncture is also worth a try if nothing helps. Otherwise, a visit to an MD-Physiatrist for consultation about Botox or nerve blocks is the next step.
