QuestionQUESTION: dear sir/madam,
i am facing a very big affair which is making me depressed. That is, my sterno-claviculare joint injury which i got from working out at the gym.
It was strange that i got that injury. On that day, i did lower part work out so it got nothing to do with chest and so that joint. But, when i returned from the gym the same day, i took a nap for 1 hour and when i woke up i felt a slight pain at the chest and shoulder. At that time, i didnt know that the source was sterno-clavicular joint wreckage. So, i went on working out at gym and it got worse! .It was my mistake that i continued working despite my pain. So, finally i cant even lift up my arm. So, i decided to go to doctor. I took 2 xray test and 1 CT scan. The answer from doc is " u got a serious injury on that joint, like it was torn because of the pressure". yes, i can see that it is serious because it was swollen very badly , and the right bone- the injured side is much bigger than the normal size on the left.
And i think carefully, and finally i got a solution . I got that injury from wing and shoulder muscle work out. I took a lot of weight more than i can handle.
Now i have been resting for almost 4 months without going to gym according to my doc. But, i dont feel that i m healing or recovering. And my doc said i cant work out anymore. And it make me like a hopeless guy because working out is my best hobby.
therefore,i dont mind if it is a year to rest to get well again and working out at the gym like before. The only thing i want to know is , can i work out again and how can i heal myself and go to gym again? is there anyways??? please help me!!!
ANSWER: I would suggest you find a chiropractor that deals with sports type injuries. You have, from your description, a very good sprain/strain to the SC joint. It is possible, that with conservative care and a good rehab program, that it can be brought around

QUESTION: dear sir/madam
i am very glad to receive your reply. Yes, i have already tried one chiropractor-(he is a bone specialist but not a bone specialist who deals with sport injures) but all he said to me was 'stop working out'. Anyway, doctor, what i want to know is your suggestion. i mean the suggestion like what should i do to get my self heal again and go to gym again. Like some rehab programs or precodures.Or if possible, any website of rehab programs for people like me who suffered from sport injuries.
And, lastly, if i have a conservative care and agood rehab program, will i be 100% fine again and workout again? if i do those procedures , how long will it take me to get well again? can u make a guess?
sorry to bother you and thank you very dearly!.
AnswerSpecial attention needs to be paid to the acromioclavicluar and sternoclavicular joints and the associated ligaments. this link http://www.med.umich.edu/1libr/sma/sma_shlddis_rex.htm has a few very good exercises for the shoulder. With the proper rehab program and treatment, you should have no problem returning to working out at 100%, barring any serious injury
