Question
i am suffering from tinnitus ringing on my left ear and somewhere on my head. this is now have been 7months.Also i have neck pain for one year. I have done MRI and the result is posterior mild disc herniaton on c3/4 and c5/6. i am 44 years old and for the last 7 years till now i am taxi driver. i have also tingling on different part on my body, like cold water tingling. sometimes burn or cold sensation on my right chest, right leg. my right shoulder and my neck make sound cracking. for the ear ringing i visited to ENT specialist and he checked my ear said they are ok.also he checked with audio said the hearing is ok. I asked him if the tinnitus is due to my disc herniation, he said it cant be.
sometimes when the pain is worse i take paracetamol tablets, but then the sound of the ringing increases. on hot weather all those symptoms stops except tinnitus a little lower.
my question is can cervical disc herniation cause tinnitus? Thanks.

Answer
The answer is no. Tinnitus would not be caused by a disc herniation. Tinnitus is very difficult to deal with. You will get frustrated seeing specialists. If the tinnitus isn't causing vertigo (dizziness) then you may want to just deal with it. I know that's not the answer you were looking for.
On a side note that is related,  I had a friend back In college that enjoyed smoking grass. I will never forget what he said to me years later when he quit smoking marijuana. He said , "ever since I quit my tinnitus went away" if you are a smoker there could be a connection there. I tried many years later to research this topic when a similar case came into my office,  and unfortunately I found nothing.
So, if you smoke, stop. If you don't Disregard the info.
