QuestionIs it possible for a chiropractor to fix?
AnswerSharon,
"Rotator Cuff" what?? Tear? Degeneration? Irritation? Which Cuff tendon, the supraspinatus or infraspinatus? Basically, if the tendon (usually it's the supraspinatus that is most affected) is not torn, than a chiropractor can address the problem by performing manual and mechanically assisted (e.g. graston technique) soft tissue mobilization, scapular stabilization exercises, doing joint manipulation to the spine that supports the shoulder, and tossing in other such therapies as low level laser or ultrasound, for example. If your rotator cuff issue is deemed amenable to manual therapy from a doctor of chiropractic, then you should expect to be treated about 2 to 3 times per week for about a four week period, with reassessment at the end of 3-4 weeks. If there's improvment, great. If not, then your treatment is not likely to be helpful. If that's the case, you'd need to find a different approach, either with different methods by the same doctor, or a different doctor using different methods. If you rotator cuff (again, often it's the supraspinatus tendon) is torn, then your condition may requrire surgical intervention. If so, you can see the chiropractor after the surgery for all of the above methods.
