Hello Amber,
I am sorry to hear of your neck complaint. Thank you for the question, I will try to give you some information about your neck ( crooked neck, stiff necks in general ). I will make some recommendations to you. If you do not find what you need- please REcontact me here at ALLexperts.com : http://www.allexperts.com/ep/965-100794/Chiropractors/Victor-Dolan-DC-DACBSP.htm
You give a brief history: "....so i have had something wrong with my neck .....", when did this start?, last week?, a month, a year? Sometimes people are born with a congenital torticollis!- do you remember neck problems as a kid?, does your Mom remember any 'head tilt' after you were born, or as a baby?
Did you sleep wrong and bring this on?, did you have some kind of trauma- a slip, trip, fall, motor vehicle accident, lift something heavy, have something strike your head or neck or shoulder?
The longer this has been around----- the longer it will take to correct. The more traumatic the event that brought this on (if there was trauma), the longer it will take to correct. If this has been with you since birth, or for years,,,, it could even take a surgical intervention!
I would recommend that you visit your local Doctor of Chiropractic (DC). Ask around your neighborhood- ask your family, what doctor do they go to for their chiropractic needs. You could even go to the yellow pages (or now-a-days the internet) and search for a chiropractic doctor near you. If your problem has been there a long time, or if it is due to some severe trauma- you may even want a doctor with a specialty credential. Your local chiropractic doctor may have a sports injury specialty, or orthopedics or neuro or rehab. I think any family doctor of chiropractic could help you, but if you wish specialty training, you can find it is chiropractic. See the webpage: http://www.acatoday.org/pdf/ApprovedChiropracticSpecialtyPrograms.pdf for the different chiropractic specialties.
You go on; "....so i have had something wrong with my neck it hurts about 3 days a week ....."- you have pain with this crooked neck. Again, have you had the 'crooked neck' long?, is the pain symptom something new now??? Is this a change in your condition?- Even if you have lived with the 'crooked neck' for years, this pain demonstrates a CHANGE is taking place, time for an evaluation to see what this change is, what is going on in your spine?- I will say this a few times in my reply: See your local doctor for a chiropractic evaluation!
Be careful of handling the pain with medications only. Medication may 'kill the pain', but NOT get to the cause of the problem, and may actually worsen the underlying CAUSE of your problem. Here is some research that I hand out to my Staten Island Neck Pain patients:
PAIN
Pain is a 憆ed light on the dashboard?
Pain is your body telling you that something is wrong.
Think you should listen??
That RED LIGHT on the dashboard of your car-
-- do you ignore it until the car breaks down,
or do you get it checked and correct the problem?
Pain,
pain in your body-
-- do you ignore it until your body breaks down,
or do you get it checked and correct the problem?
Pain,
do you cover up the pain by taking a painkiller?
Take a painkiller,
mask the pain,
and allow a problem to progress in your body?
Pain Killing medication??? = 16,000 deaths ( probably under-reported )
DEATH ! ? ! ? better watch out on those medications!!!
NOTICE ON PAIN RELIEVERS:
Label changes ORDERED by FDA; the FDA announced proposed label changes for OTC over-the-counter pain relievers to include the potential for stomach bleeding and liver damage (FDA news 206- 207; 12-9-06) ;
SIXTEEN THOUSAND DEATHS: "Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) are effective medications for the treatment of many chronically painful medical conditions. However, it is estimated that 25% of all serious adverse drug reactions involve NSAIDs, with more than 100,000 hospitalizations and 16,000 deaths occurring annually due to NSAID-induced gastrointestinal (GI) events."----- http://hhc.sagepub.com/cgi/content/abstract/13/6/468 Home Health Care Management & Practice, Vol. 13, No. 6, 468-475 (2001) Motrin, Advil = NSAIDS
The American Heart Association issued a scientific statement recommending medical doctors change the way they prescribe OTC pain relievers from a first choice to an alternate of recommending non-pharmacologic treatment (AHA statement 2-26-07).
NSAID Acceleration of ARTHRITIS; an important side effect of Aspirin and other NSAIDS is that it will inhibit cartilage repair and accelerate cartilage destruction ( Journal of Rheumatology, 1982; 9: 3- 5 ). Many times people take NSAIDS for the pain of Arthritis, not realizing these drugs may make the underlying condition worse. These medications cover up the pain, and cause the problem to worsen.
Pain can often be the result of the Vertebral Subluxation Complex.
Vertebral Subluxation ( 慥SC?, 憇ubluxation? )
Vertebral Subluxation is actually a quite common condition. Doctors of Chiropractic look for pathological conditions which may require referral to other specialties, and also look for 慡ubluxation? Other disciplines look for pathology, but overlook the importance of alignment and movement in the spine which affects our nervous system (the master control system- ALL health disciplines learn this). VSC- 慡ubluxation??can be the cause of many symptoms and conditions.
Only a Doctor of Chiropractic will evaluate and treat for VSC, as well as other pathology.
The course of VSC is highly variable. Some patients with VSC literally cannot walk, yet other patients with similar test findings may be able to run marathons or lift heavy weights. Some patients immediately develop symptoms related to the VSC, some patients take years to develop symptoms. Some people suffer for only a few days with pain and symptoms, some people suffer for months. Some people recover in days, some take months or years, depending upon severity of the condition.
A subluxation interferes with the proper functioning of the nervous system (the master system which controls and coordinates all function within the body) and may cause various other conditions, symptoms and problems.
The Vertebral Subluxation Complex describes what happens when spinal bones lose their normal movement patterns and position. When subluxated, joints are in a stressed, vulnerable, compromised condition. Subluxation may cause Arthritis, Disk Herniation, or aggravate such conditions.
Vertebral Subluxation cannot be corrected through chemicals (medicine), stretching, yoga, vitamins or physical therapy alone. Subluxation- a neuro/skeletal/muscular- mechanical- problem requires a mechanical correction- - - a manipulation, best performed with the chiropractic adjustment.

I hope that information explains why you need a health professional's evaluation!
Going on; ".....so i have had something wrong with my neck it hurts about 3 days a week i noticed that my head is not straight it is crooked......", you probably have a 'head tilt' possibly with a 'head rotation'. This postural aberration shows that there is a vertebral misalignment in your spine, probably in your neck, possibly elsewhere in your spine.
Many people in the lay public call the chiropractor the 'spine specialist'. This reputation has been earned because the chiropractic doctor handles spines ALL day, EVERY day. The Doctor of Chiropractic (DC) will take a history, perform an examination, probably take Xrays, perhaps order testing such as CT scan, MRI, perhaps EMG/NCV. Your Doctor will then tell you if he(she) feels that a chiropractic treatment regimen of care is appropriate for you. Your chiropractic doctor could also, after evaluating the information, refer you to a colleague MD (Medical Doctor) if the history, exam, tests show that another treatment approach may be more appropriate.
I recommend the DC (Chiropractic Doctor) for your case, because, based upon what you have told me, the chiropractic approach could be the most applicable treatment regimen for you.
If you go to your MD, you may then be referred to your local family DC anyway,,, so you can save a step by going to the Chiropractor near you.
That 'Head tilt' SHOWS a spinal misalignment, a vertebral malalignment, a subluxation- what the Doctor of Chiropractic calls as the 'Vertebral Subluxation Complex'. See your local DC.
My Staten Island Neck Pain Patients get the following information handout, perhaps it will be of help to you:
揝tiff Neck?
( Also Known As- wryneck, torticollis, neck muscle spasm )
-can be caused by big bad things: cancers, tumors, fractures, even heart attacks- only history/ examination/ evaluation by an appropriate health professional can differentiate these problems/ conditions. USUALLY these complaints are neuro-musculo-skeletal. For example: sometimes we can wake up with a 憇tiff neck? or a muscle spasm.... sometimes a slip, trip, fall, heavy lift, or even a motor vehicle accident can cause a 憇tiff neck? Sometimes we just slept wrong ! Often- the true c a u s e of the neck stiffness and pain; the underlying c a u s e of the complaint - is a misalignment, a 慿ink? in the neck - more properly termed a Vertebral Subluxation. Treat the c a u s e, not just the symptoms - for true improvement.
Vertebral Subluxation Complex (a.k.a. 憇ubluxation?
The vertebral subluxation complex is the underlying cause of many healthcare problems. A subluxation interferes with the proper functioning of the nervous system (the master system which controls and coordinates all function within the body) and may cause various other conditions, symptoms and problems.
This is a serious condition identified by its five parts:
Spinal Kinesiopathology:
This is fancy way of saying the bones of the spine have lost their normal motion and position. It restricts your ability to turn and bend. It sets in motion the other four components.
Neuropathophysiology:
Improper spinal function can choke, stretch, or irritate delicate nerve tissue. The resulting nerve system dysfunction can cause symptoms elsewhere in the body.
Myopathology:
Muscles supporting the spine can weaken, atrophy, or become tight and go into spasm. The resulting scar tissue changes muscle tone, requiring repeated spinal adjustments.
Histopathology:
A rise in temperature from an increase in blood and lymph supplies result in swelling and inflammation. Discs can bulge, herniate, tear, or degenerate. Other soft tissues may suffer permanent damage.
Pathophysiology:
Bone spurs and other abnormal bony growths attempt to fuse malfunctioning spinal joints. This spinal decay, scar tissue, and long-term nerve dysfunction can cause other systems of the body to malfunction.
The Vertebral Subluxation Complex describes what happens when spinal bones lose their normal movement patterns and position.
Automobile accidents, improper lifting, improper posture, alcohol, emotional stress, chemical imbalances, and long periods of sitting can cause the Vertebral Subluxation Complex.
For good health- Treat the Cause, not just the Symptoms.

I may have given you new terms that you have not heard/ read before, do not hesitate to look up the terms I have used here on the internet- 'wryneck'- an older term, torticollis- more technical, subluxation- used in chiropractic circles.
".....hurts about 3 days a week i noticed that my head is not straight it is crooked. I cant make it straighten out..it hurts. it has been this way for months now......", again- see your local chiropractic doctor.
You have a 'head tilt', 'crooked neck' - - you have a spinal misalignment- a vertebral subluxation, see above. You have had it "....for months...." and seems to be getting worse, '....it hurts about 3 days a week ....'; go for an evaluation, get a regimen of care, it is NOT likely to get better on it's own.
Chiropractic is safe, effective, and cost effective; especially for complaints such as this. As the Winter Olympics are just about here--- let me tell you our USA Olympic Athletes utilize Chiropractic care to #1- get them healthIER, #2- keep them FITter, #3- improve their performance!
do not hesitate to see your local DC !!!
I hope this all helps.
