QuestionHi, I was diagnosed with a pinch nerve in the neck caused by "bone spurs from degenerative arthritis"... I have the results from the MRI that they did... my question to you is, knowing this result would it benefit me to go to a Chiropractor before going to a Pain Clinic that they set me up for in 2 weeks to possibly start spinal cortisone injections (which I am terrified about)...please HELP...I want to try anything before these shots and/or possible surgery,,but I am at my end with the pain and numbness in my thumb and horrible pain down my left arm...I anxiously await your response...Please, can a Chiropractor help??? I am ready to see one, I'm just leary..thank you so very much in advance for your help...
AnswerBarbra,
i would like you to know that going to a pain clinic may be a necessary evil but I do admit that sometimes you will need pain meds. However what if the chiropractor could help you and you didn't end up going to the pain management doc? What would that be worth to you?
So with that said I definitely opine that you should visit a chiropractor first and please bring all your medical records with you x rays MRI reports, your MD work up. This will allow the chiropractor to do a more thorough Diagnosis and timely treatment other wise the chiro will have to wait until he is in possession of said records which are vital to his determination of correct protocol.
When you call the chiropractors office discuss our concerns with the office manager in all likely hood she will get the doctor to call you or discuss the concerns you are having. I know i would want to see your MRI and Xrays before determining if I could help you or not.
The fact that you have bone spurs does not rule you out as a candidate for chiropractic care but does come with some "red flags" that must attended to when determining the appropriate protocol for your specific situation.
I hope this information is helpful for your decision making process for your health issues.
Sincerely,
Dr John Q Quackenbush
