Question
HI, I was diagnosed with reactive arthritis six months ago, the doctor thought that it was "reacting" to the chest infection I had a year prior. I have pain in my ankles, wrists and lower back, I was put onto anti-inflammatory medication, with little positive effect. More recently my back pain became alot worse and moving is painful, along with shooting pains down my left leg, the doctor diagnosed sciatica and gave me a lot of pain medication, which is only providing a mild relief. I had an MRI scan on my lower back 3 weeks ago which came back as normal. I wondered if you might have any suggestions for what is wrong with me? Thanks

Answer
first of all, without an xray of your lower back you cannot tell if you have arthritis in your lower back. If anti inflammatories are not working then it is my guess that inflammation isnt the cause of your pain.
Yes, it sounds like a case of sciatica and pain meds are not going to fix the problem (they will only fix your pain) if you would like to get to the cause of the problem and learn how to avoid it in the future then get yourself to a chiropractor. chiropractors remove nerve pressure and thats exactly whats going on with you. they will get to the cause, not give you more drugs to mask your symptoms.
i am located in New york City let me know if i can refer you to someone in your area.
