Question
My daughter - 12 hurt herself 15months ago whilst swimming a butterfly dril where she had to swimm on her tummy and flick her arms back past her body and higher than her bodyline. She hurt her right shoulder area. She has had a shoulder MRI, shoulder ultrasound, neck xray and a bone scan - all have come back clear. She has seen three physios, a sports dr and he advised nothing he can find and have 3 months off rest. her current physio suspects her first and second rib are out of place and she is trying to manipulate it back into position. Could tis be a solution and how long before it will be fixed as she is desperate to swim. She has tried to go back but it always hurts. It has been going on for too long.
Any ideas please would be appreciated about if it could be this or something they might be missing? also any idea how much longer this oculd go on. I appreciate your help

I'm not sure where you live , but I may be able to make a referral for you if you let me know what city you live in.
There is a lot of missing information to tell you what's wrong. If it is indeed a rib displacement, I would not have a physical therapist or a ortho manipulate me. Chiropractors are trained to a much higher level when it comes to bone, joint, spine adjustments.
The next hurdle you have is finding a good chiropractor.
If it was a muscular problem she would be better in 2-6 weeks. If all the tests came back negative then rib is defi itely a possibility.
