QuestionQUESTION: I have been suffering with neck n shoulder problems. My left side from back to chest going down my arm gets rock hard and very sore. I get major headaches and left hand cannot hold anything for long. Pain is excrutiating. Orthopaedic doc did MRI's C Spine n said I have to go for surgery. Is there any other cure? I have had eight various operations before for female problems etc and I dont want to have a ninth Operation. Please advise
ANSWER: hello hazel,
I don't know how serious your slipped disc is. Is it a herniation or a disc bulge?
Either way , if you haven't tried chiropractic for 4-8 weeks, then why on earth would a doctor recommend surgery without trying more conservative approaches? you have a few options and your question doesn't give me any history of how you've treated this so far. I will assume you have not tried anything else. If chiropractic isn't helping you then you can try more invasive procedures.
i will tell you that i see people all day long with both disc herniations and disc bulges and we get excellent results. I feel your doctor is looking after himself and not giving you good advice if he never mentioned ALL your options.
another option is a chiropractor equipped with cold laser which is extremely effective. take a look at my site and you can see some testimonials of people using laser.

QUESTION: Hi Doc thanks for responding. I was in hospital n was put on tractions 3kg, for 2 days n the nurses didnt have a clue how to strap the traction equipment. I was left with more intense pain. I have had hot stone massages and went to a chiropractor who just put me on the machine for 1/2 3 times this was before i knew i had a severe slipped disk according to the MRI
ANSWER: the traction can worsen the problem if not done properly. you need to go to a good chiropractor that will adjust you and also do soft tissue work. what city are you in?

QUESTION: Hi Doc, I am in South Africa, Gauteng Province. The Doctor mentioned that the disk between C5 and C6 has completely degenerated and they have to put a metal disk. Apparently it is a severe herniated disk according to the more thorough C Spine MRI that they did. I told my doc that I am not ready for surgery. Someone told me about Silicone injections that are injected by a neurosurgeon into the space and that fills up like a new make up disk!!
Look forward to hearing further advises from you. thanks Hazel
AnswerI would try gentle chiropractic mixed with cold laser therapy. Make sure the laser is done daily for the first week and then 3 times a week for a week or two after that. If that fails then surgery may be you only option. You can also try cortisone shots in the spine. Good luck!
