Question
I have a horrible, sharp pain under my left shoulder blade that seems to be getting worse. Pain increases with taking a deep breath, sudden movements, sneezing, coughing, etc.

I have been inactive for 4 months now due to an aggravated herniated disc in L 4-5. About 3 weeks ago I was feeling better pain wise, and decided to try swimming for a light excercise. I swam two days in a row before having to stop due to the return of pain in my lower back. A couple days later my shoulder blade started feeling real tight and knotted. I continued doing my stretching excercises, using the inversion table, used the foam roller daily on my upper back and even got two massages to try and relieve the increasing pain in my upper back. Unfortunatly it has only been getting worse. I saw my chiropractor and he told me it was the out of place rib issue that I have read about very much online for results of this sort of pain. Unfortunatly when he did his correctional adjustments the pain got worse and has continued to get worse since then. I am concerned because I dont want to let it get worse if it is something serious. But I have learned through experience with my lower back, going to the doctor normally does not help. I have been alternating heat and ice, going for accupuncture, and continuing to rest everyday in hopes that it will get better on its on.
Do you have any suggestions as to what this might be, and is there anything else I should be doing to help with recovery?

It does sound like a rib, did you go back to the chiro that adjusted your rib? 2 things could happen.
1. He adjusted it incorrectly
2. He adjusted it correctly (many times pain will increase first few days ) you need to follow up.
Ps- you can try cold laser on shoulder blade or another chiro
