Question
I am a person with poor posture. I'm slumped over a computer with forward head etc..I have been having mid back pain especially when trying to sit up straight to correct my posture.A doctor told me I was "musclebound" in my back and said that I had to free the muscle but didn't explain how.
My xrays show nothing, but havent had a chiropractor look at me. When I sit in a chair and breathe deeply I notice irritation under my ribs. Its not a sharp pain, but a tight irritation. Then it seems to radiate around my rib cage then goes away after awhile.
I have also had costochondritis in the past.Could this be from a tight diaphragm?Intercostal muscles? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Answer
i would definitely see a chiropractor, and you should keep up with supportive care for as long as you live and stretching too for as long as you live.
buy a foam roller (ptmart.com) lay on it face up and put your head backand let the roller roll up and down your mid back.
another stretch: you can buy a cheap chin up bar from modells or sports authority and hang from it with both arms.
you can also get one of those big exercise balls and lay on it face up like the roller.
a chiropractor will help actually re align your spine and force it from the slouching posture you have to a more improved posture with greater ease.
if you do these stretches everyday you will see improvements.
also, raise your computer screen (bottom of the screen at eye level) while you are seated.
