QuestionQUESTION: Dr. Arnone,
I read an answer you posted for someone with Thyroid issues and you told them about Upper Cervical Vertebral Subluxation.
I have a thyroid nodule, I have esophagus motility disorder, I have been diagnosed with IBD. I have an injury from years ago on my lower left leg - I ran into a steel rod that indented my leg and it has been tingly ever since. Doctors told me it was just a contusion and workers comp closed it. However, that was about 10 years ago and to this day, my leg easily gets fatigued and tingles. Many times I prop it up with a pillow. I'm in my mid 30's. About 5 years after the leg injury I kept feeling like my throat had something in it. Finally after switching doctors, I was told I have a thyroid nodule and was diagnosed with hypothyroidism. I had also gain a lot of weight in a short period of time without changing my eating habits. I look as if I go to a buffet and stay there all day - but, I eat about the same and sometimes less than what others eat. I later on developed a stomach ulcer and a polyp was removed and showed it was pre-cancerous.
I feel as if my entire body has gone down hill. I always feel like there is something in my throat and it is difficult to swallow. I have been in a few car accidents, nothing major. For the past several years I have had fatigue, brain fog and forgetful and my muscles are tight in my neck and shoulders. My neck has a lump on it in the back - the cervical CT showed nothing but, you can feel it. The doctor told me it must be a muscle knot. My shoulders are so tight and I can't get them to relax. My bad leg (right side) also is tight at times. I take a muscle relaxer every so often to try to get to a manageable point. Prior to all of this happening to me I was an outgoing, extremely active, supercharged person. Now, I'm a couch potato. I have no energy. I easier get migraine headaches and I get this weird fatigue feeling that flows through my body - like energy draining out of me and I just know that I have to rest or it will get worse. I have been living like this for a while. Sometimes my family doesn't believe me. Sometimes I wished it was all in my head so, that way I could go on with my life and overcome it but, it quickly reminds me that's not the case.
I was wondering if Upper Cervical Vertebral Subluxation could be an issue. I am desperately looking for an answer so, that I can get my life back. I was wondering if this could all be related and if so, if it is related to the Upper Cervical Vertebral Subluxation.
Thank you,
TT
I live in Cincinnati, OH and if it is related to Upper Cervical Vertebral Subluxation , is there a place you could refer me to?
ANSWER: Tammy,
It is very likely to be the result of an upper cervical subluxation but the only way to know for sure is to go through the consult and exam.
I am in the process of finding you a specialist in your state, however please be aware that we are a special breed of doctors and you may need to travel to get to one in your state.
Please write back to me shortly and then I will reply with someone who can likely help you.

QUESTION: Dr. Arnone,
I am located in Cincinnati, Ohio 45246. I am in southern Ohio so, I am also close to Kentucky. I would be willing to go for a consult and see if this is what is causing some/all of my problems.
Thank you,
Tammy
